Welcome to A Strand of Hope Counseling

Some Mondays Hit Different

You wake up already tired. Your body feels heavy, inflamed, unpredictable. You stare at the mirror wondering why it feels like your hormones run your life, why motivation disappears without warning, why your emotions feel louder than everyone else's. You might be asking yourself, "Why is this so hard when it looks easy for others?"

Living with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) can feel isolating. It is not just irregular cycles or lab results. It is the mental load of planning around symptoms, the grief around fertility questions, the frustration of weight changes, the anxiety, the mood swings, the feelings that your body has betrayed you. And too often, you are told to just try harder, lose weight, relax, or wait it out.

Finding Support That Actually Feels Like Support

If you've been pushing through, holding it together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or misunderstood on the inside, you're not alone. Living with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) or a chronic illness affects more than your body. It impacts your emotions, your identity, your relationships, and how safe you feel in your own skin.

Therapy here is not about fixing you. It's about helping you understand what's happening in your body and your relationships, reconnecting your mind and body, and finding a steadier sense of confidence and clarity.

This is a virtual therapy practice serving clients across the state of Texas.

What is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal condition that affects metabolism, menstrual cycles, fertility,
and mental health, often
impacting both physical
and emotional well-being.

PCOS is most often diagnosed by medical professionals through a combination of medical history, symptom review, blood work to assess hormone levels, and pelvic imaging such as an ultrasound, using established criteria like irregular cycles, signs of excess androgens or polycystic appearing ovaries.

Choose the Support That Fits You

Option 1: Individual Therapy for PCOS or Chronic Illness

You may be here because you feel exhausted from managing symptoms that seem to run you life. Maybe your body feels unpredictable. Maybe you're frustrated with doctors' visits that focus on labs but not how all of this actually feels. Maybe you're tired of questioning yourself, your emotions, or your worth.

You might notice:

  • Feeling disconnected from your body or not trusting it anymore

  • Anxiety, grief, or anger about your diagnosis

  • Shame or self-blame around symptoms or fertility concerns

  • Feeling like you have to explain yourself constantly to others

  • A sense that your identity has shifted and you're not sure who you are now

In individual therapy, we slow things down. We explore how PCOS or chronic illness shows up in your body, your emotions, and your daily life. We work on rebuilding trust with your body, understanding your symptoms without judgment, and helping you feel more grounded and confident moving forward.

This space is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on helping you feel more like yourself again.

Option 2: Couples Therapy When PCOS or Chronic Illness Is Part of the Relationship

When one partner has PCOS or chronic illness, both people feel the impact. You may love each other deeply and still feel stuck, disconnected, or misunderstood.

You might be experiencing:

  • Miscommunication or frequent tension around symptoms, energy, or intimacy

  • Feeling alone in the experience, on either side

  • Frustration, guilt, or resentment that's hard to talk about

  • One partner feeling overwhelmed while the other feels helpless

  • Difficulty staying emotionally connected when stress levels are high

Couples therapy focuses on helping both partners understand the physical and emotional impact of PCOS or chronic illness. We work on improving communication, increasing empathy, and creating a sense of teamwork rather than blame.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is feeling like you're on the same side again.
